One family team, start to finish
Jay Rod's Custom Homes is based in San Antonio, and every project is planned and run from here. Juan and Maria Rodriguez run the work as a family team, from the first walk of the lot to the final punch list.
We build new custom homes on land you own, renovate and add on to existing houses, build outdoor kitchens, covered patios and pools, and manage construction projects for owners who want one accountable builder.

What San Antonio asks of a build
Ground conditions change across the city. Much of San Antonio sits on clay soils that swell when wet and shrink in drought, and a foundation has to be designed for that movement. On the north side, around Stone Oak, the ground turns rocky with limestone close to the surface, which changes how a site is cut and how a slab is formed.
The north side also sits over the Edwards Aquifer recharge and contributing zones, where extra rules can apply to grading, drainage and impervious cover. Those are things to understand before a design is finished, not after.
Then there is the heat. Long, hot summers make covered outdoor space, good roof insulation and smart window placement part of the design from day one, not an upgrade added later.

San Antonio questions
Asked before we build
Do you build custom homes on land we already own in San Antonio?
Yes. We walk the lot with you first and flag slope, drainage, soil, access and utility questions before you commit to a design.
Can you build on the rocky north side of San Antonio?
Yes. Limestone close to the surface changes site work and foundation forming, and we account for it in the plan and the schedule. We also look at any aquifer-zone requirements that apply to the lot.
How do we start a project in San Antonio?
Call (210) 801-0540 or send your project details through the contact page. We set a time to talk through the plan and walk the site, and you get a written timeline before work starts.
