Your land. Your plans. Your home.

Custom homes, whole-home renovations and outdoor living — designed, framed and finished by the same family team that shakes your hand on day one.

A family builder

Built by the people whose name is on it

Jay Rod's Custom Homes was founded in 2020 by Juan and Maria Rodriguez. It's still their name over the door — which is why the same team that walks your land pours your slab, frames your walls and hands you the keys.

No handoffs between salespeople and subcontractors you never meet. Juan runs the jobsite. Maria runs the details. You always know exactly who to call.

What we build

Four ways we earn the sign in your yard

Custom Home Building

Ground-up, on your lot, to your plan

From the first walk of the land to move-in day. We design around how your family actually lives, then build it with the framing system that fits your site — wood or steel.

  • New builds on your land or ours to find
  • 3D design — walk it before we pour it
  • Hill Country, city lots and acreage

Whole-home remodels, additions and structural work — planned so your home keeps functioning while we transform it, and finished so it looks like it was always meant to be that way.

  • Whole-home remodels & additions
  • Kitchens, baths & open-concept conversions

Outdoor Renovations

Texas evenings deserve a better backyard

Covered patios, outdoor kitchens, pool builds and the retaining walls and site work that make them possible. Built to take Texas sun and still look sharp years in.

Project Management

One call runs the whole job

Permits, schedules, inspections, trades — coordinated by the owner, not a rotating cast of managers. You get straight answers, a real schedule and a jobsite that stays moving.

  • Owner-run scheduling & supervision
  • Permits, inspections & trade coordination
  • Clear communication, start to finish

The part nobody sees

Some pours start before sunrise

In a Texas summer, concrete goes down early so it cures right. That's the standard under everything we build — the work you'll never see is done as carefully as the work you show off.

How a build runs

Dirt to done

Every project follows the same disciplined path — so you always know where your build stands and what happens next.

Start at step one
01Walk the land

We meet on your lot, talk through what you want to build, and flag the site realities — slope, drainage, access, utilities — before they become surprises.

02Design it on screen

Your home takes shape in 3D so you can walk the layout and adjust it while changes are still free — before a single yard of concrete is ordered.

03Foundation

Forms, steel and engineered slab work — the part of the build you never see again, done like it will be inspected forever.

04Frame & dry-in

Wood or steel framing goes vertical, then sheathing and roof deck close the structure to weather. This is when the drone photos start looking good.

05Finish-out

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins, then the finishes you picked in design — installed, punched and re-punched until they're right.

06Walkthrough & keys

We walk every room together before you close. When you get the keys, the site is clean, the punch list is done and the sign comes out of the yard.

Design first

Walk your home before we break ground

Every custom build starts as a full 3D model. You'll see your elevations, walk your floor plan and try your finishes on screen — so the home we pour in concrete is one you've already lived in.

Changing a wall in the model costs nothing. Changing it after framing costs plenty. We make sure you spend your decisions where they're cheap.

Straight answers

Before you call

Can you build on land we already own?

Yes — that's most of our custom work. We'll walk the lot with you first and flag slope, drainage, access and utility realities before you commit to a design.

We already have plans. Will you build from them?

Absolutely. We'll review your plans, price the build honestly, and tell you if we see anything on the drawings that will cost you money in the field before we start.

Do you take on remodels, or only new builds?

Both. Whole-home renovations, additions and outdoor projects get the same crew and the same standard as our ground-up builds.

Who actually runs the jobsite?

Juan Rodriguez — the owner. He's on site, he knows your build, and when you call, you're talking to the person making the decisions, not a call center.

Steel framing or wood — which do you use?

We build with both, in-house. Which one fits depends on your design, your site and your budget — we'll walk you through the trade-offs, not push a default.

What happens at the first meeting?

We listen. You talk through what you want to build, we look at the land or the house, and you leave knowing whether it's feasible, roughly what the path looks like and what to decide next. No pressure, no obligation.
